Spirituality: Background Information: Religious Traditions

Introduction

While "spirituality," by definition, is not institutionalized, does not have dogmas, and is not a "religion," having an understanding of the different prevailing religious traditions in the world can help you understand your own spirituality. Whether we are aware of it or not, as we grow, we are influenced by the religious ideas in our society, and these subconsciously affect our belief systems. By exploring structural belief systems, we can begin to understand what our spiritual needs are and what practices best fit with our own spirituality.  Below, check out some resources on the world's major religions.
