Ebooks Accessibility

This guide gives an overview of ebooks available via the Library, and details how each of the various ebook platforms allows the user to do various tasks such as read, download on to a mobile device, copy, or print ebooks.

Quick facts about Springer Ebooks

  • Checkout/Number of Users: Unrestricted use.
  • Availability: All Springer titles are perpetual access, and should always be available through the library discovery tools.
  • Access: Available to read online online or via download (see download instructions below).
  • Format: Available as to read online or to download as PDF and/or ePub files for use on an e-reader or tablet.
  • Copy/Print options: Only limits are copyright and Fair Use restrictions.
  • Interlibrary Loan: Able to be loaned.
  • Accessibility: When reading online, book chapters can be read using Read & Write. However, PDFs are untagged and need to be converted using Adobe Reader to use with Read & Write.

How to Download and Read Springer Ebooks Titles on Your Device

Unlike the other ebook platforms, Springer allows you to download titles as DRM-free PDFs. This makes Springer ebooks comparatively easy to download and read via any software that opens PDFs.

You can download either the whole book or certain chapters, accessible via the Table of Contents.

Note: If you want to read a downloaded ebook using Read & Write, you will need to use Adobe.
