GISCO is the Geographic Information System of the Commission. It provides the European Commission with geographical information, meeting its needs at 3 levels: EU, Member State and regional. In addition to creating statistical and other thematic maps, GISCO manages a database of geographical information, and provides related services to the Commission.

Federal agencies and their partners collect and manage large amounts of geospatial data - but these data are often not easily found when needed or accessible in useful forms. The Geospatial Platform provides ready access to federally maintained geospatial data, services and applications. The National Transportation Atlas Database (NTAD) is a set of nationwide geographic databases of transportation facilities, transportation networks, and associated infrastructure. These datasets include spatial information for transportation modal networks and intermodal terminals, as well as the related attribute information for these features.

This is an excellent portal to GIS data sources. Some sources may be limited to MIT affiliated users.

The Library collects GIS data for areas around the world, with an emphasis on the nine county San Francisco Bay Area and northern California. Data can be accessed via GeoData @ UC Berkeley (the Library's geoportal).
