FYEX 100: First Year Experience Introduction to the MSU Library

This guide provides FYEX 100 students an introduction to Memorial Library.

About Memorial Library

Memorial Library offers more than 1.3 million items, over 68,000 journals, and hundreds of databases. Many of these materials may be checked out at the Circulation Desk using your MavCard.

In addition to these resources, the following support is available through Library Services.

  • Research assistance in person at the Reference Desk, over the phone, and online through email and chat. Librarians will help find and evaluate resources to complete course assignments.
  • Group study rooms, quiet study rooms, study carrels, and open reading/work areas. Keys to group study rooms may be checked out at the Circulation Desk. Other spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Assistive technologies including text-adjustable and height-adjustable workstations.
  • Multimedia equipment checkout including laptops, cameras, and projectors. These materials may be checked out at the Media Desk in the ERC. The ERC also houses K-12 materials, puppets, videos, and games; these may be checked out at the Media or Circulation Desk.

Additional services are available through offices and departments housed in Memorial Library.
