Textbook & Course Reserve FAQs

First, if you haven't already, try both the search bar above, and/or look up your course by the course number and instructor name. Next, you could try simply searching what books we have here at Memorial Library. Use the "Books and Media" search bar on the Library's home page. If we have it, you can check it out like a regular book. If this doesn't work, chances are we might not have the book you need. Remember, we don't carry all textbooks for all courses (that would be hundreds!) as most of them change or are updated frequently. From here, you could purchase the book from our campus bookstore or you could ask a Librarian.

Textbooks can be found at the front Circulation Desk.

go to the big front desk to find most reserves

You check out Course Reserve books just like any other book: with your MavCard! Just be sure to pay attention to the due date and time, as many of the textbooks have different borrowing periods.

make sure you have your mavcard

Many of the textbooks and materials will have different check-out periods, so be sure to review the email you will receive after borrowing the item! However, most of the general textbooks located behind the front desk have a 24 hour checkout.

As an instructor, you can place one of your own books or one of the library's books on Course Reserve by simply filling out the appropriate form. The form can either be picked up and dropped off at the front desk of the library, or else the form can be completed and submitted online. The online form can be found online as a resource for MSU Faculty and you can access it by clicking the button below. If you're curious about the specific policies of putting a book on reserve, check out our policies, also linked below.
