Romance and Love Stories at MSU: Young Adult Romance

Here are entered works of fiction dealing with romantic love.

Introduction

Novels defined as falling under the Romance genre have as their main plot the development of one or more romantic relationships. The relationships in romance novels can be heterosexual, homosexual, or anywhere else on the spectrum -- the focus is on emotions and relationships. However, there are different types of romance novels: historical romances, set in certain eras of history; books specifically about first loves; the subgenre often referred to as "chick lit," which focuses on female friendships, young women's romantic encounters, and how the two affect each other; and paranormal romance, where fantasy elements interweave in the plot and affect the dynamics of the characters' relationships. These are just a few of the types of romance novels available.  See some of our selections below!
