Journal Licensing Workflow (2nd ed.)

Overview

After identifying a contact person, send the applicable email requesting a license for the journal title(s). Send the first follow-up email after x weeks from when the initial email was sent. Send the second follow-up email after x weeks from when the first follow-up email was sent.

In the absence of a license posted on the publisher or vendor website, search for subscription terms and conditions. If subscription terms and conditions are available, review this agreement applying the same benchmarks as for a license. If the subscription terms and conditions are acceptable, the library must ascertain if this agreement is in lieu of a license and obtain the contact information for a person with whom the library can follow-up. Send the applicable email to the contact identified on the website.
