Know you want a book, but don't really know where to start? That's okay! Check out our tutorial to find out how to search for books and access e-books!

The basic process to find a book in Memorial Library is:

  1. Use the Books & Media search in MavScholar to record the collection name and call number of the book
  2. Compare the collection name with the library map to identify where to go in Memorial Library
  3. Go to the area of the library connected to the book's collection.
  4. Use the call number to match the label on the side of the book shelves and then to the label on the exact book.

Visit our tutorial for more information on how to find a book in the library.

Yes. To have staff pull items for you:

  1. Sign in within MavScholar
  2. Search for an item
  3. When you click on each title, you will have the option under the Get It section to click Hold or Hold Request. Library staff will be alerted to gather books, etc., from the shelves.
  4. You will receive an email when the items are ready for pickup at the 1st floor Circulation Desk.  Your MavCard is required to checkout library materials.

Curbside pickup can be done by appointment by contacting the Circulation Desk at 1-507-389-5931 or msulibrary@mnsu.edu.

Books in our general collection (which has most of our books) can be checked out until the end of the semester if you're a current student. Items in other collections, like movies and best sellers, have different checkout periods.

MSU is part of a large collection of libraries that shares their materials! You can request a book be sent here from another library. It's called an Interlibrary Loan (ILL) and is free for you to use as a student! These instructions will help you request a book through ILL.
